Empowering communication through authentic connection

Welcome!

Hello! I’m Allie. I’m a speech therapist and AAC specialist based in Denver, Colorado.

For more than a decade, I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, teens and adults communicate and connect with the world around them. At the heart of my practice is a commitment to creating a space where communication can grow in ways that feel authentic and meaningful.

I am licensed in both Colorado and New York and have worked with children, teens and adults aged 2–20 across home, school, and clinical settings. My experience includes supporting individuals with autism, childhood apraxia of speech, receptive and expressive language differences, genetic conditions, and complex communication needs.

A special area of my practice is Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). I have extensive experience with PRC-Saltillo systems (Unity, LAMP Words for Life,TouchChat), AssistiveWare products (Proloquo and Proloquo2Go) and Tobii Dynavox (TD Snap). I am also trained in motor speech approaches for childhood apraxia of speech, including Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT) and Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC). I am a Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) Trained Clinician and have specialized experience supporting gestalt language learners.

Collaboration is at the heart of my work. I believe the greatest progress happens when individuals and the people who support them feel heard, confident, and empowered. In addition to therapy, I provide consultations and professional trainings for families, behavior therapists, occupational and physical therapists, teachers, paraprofessionals, and other professionals. Trainings are individualized to each team and focus on practical, everyday strategies for supporting speech, language, multimodal communication, and AAC.

  • "Allie is not just a speech pathologist but a beacon of hope and empowerment for families like ours"

I am forever indebted to Allie for the transformative impact she has had on my son's communication journey. When we first met her, my son was a non-speaking communicator, relying solely on limited AAC usage, gestures and minimal approximations. He has progressed from simple gestures to verbalizing 1-7 word utterances and confidently utilizing his AAC device as an aid when needed. Allie not only celebrates his milestones but also continues to challenge him to reach new heights. She is not just a speech pathologist but a beacon of hope and empowerment for families like ours. —

I am incredibly grateful for the outstanding dedication and expertise displayed by my son's speech therapist, Allison Long, over the past four years. Her unwavering commitment to his development has been nothing short of remarkable. Through her skillful teaching, she not only imparted invaluable new skills to my son but also discovered a personalized approach that truly resonated with him. Her passion for her work is evident in every session, creating an environment where my son felt supported and encouraged to flourish. Her genuine love for her clients is palpable, and it has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in my son's progress. I can't express enough gratitude for the positive impact Allison has had on his journey.
